Fleischmann was founded in 1887 in Nuremberg, Germany, beginning as a toy manufacturer before entering model railroading. The company established a reputation for precision engineering and smooth-running mechanisms that rivaled Swiss watchmaking. Fleischmann is particularly known for their Profi-Track system, which offers reliable operation and easy assembly. Their locomotive line spans European prototypes from multiple countries and eras, with German DB equipment being particularly well represented. Now part of the Modelleisenbahn Holding group (along with Roco), Fleischmann continues to produce quality models. Their N scale offerings are especially popular in Europe where space constraints make the smaller scale practical.
