Tomix, a brand of the Tomytec company, is one of Japan's two dominant N scale manufacturers alongside Kato. Founded in 1976, Tomix has developed an enormous range of Japanese prototype models covering JR companies, private railways, and historical equipment. The FineTrack system rivals Kato's Unitrack with its own integrated roadbed approach. Tomix models are known for excellent detail, prototypical accuracy, and smooth operation. The company covers everything from Shinkansen to local electric multiple units, with particularly strong coverage of private railways. Popular in Japan.
