Configuration Variables are the adjustable parameters stored in a DCC decoder that control its behavior. CVs govern everything from the decoder address (CV1) to acceleration rate (CV3), deceleration rate (CV4), speed curves, lighting effects, and sound volumes. The NMRA standardizes basic CVs, while manufacturers add proprietary CVs.
