Passenger cars transport people and come in many types: coaches (basic seating), sleepers (private rooms and berths), diners (meal service), lounges, baggage cars, and observation cars. The streamlined era (1930s-1960s) produced the most visually striking passenger equipment. Modern Amtrak equipment continues the tradition.
