Sound decoders add another dimension to model railroading by producing realistic locomotive sounds including prime mover, horns, bells, air systems, and dozens of other effects. Modern sound decoders use digital recordings of actual prototype sounds. Leading brands include ESU LokSound, SoundTraxx Tsunami, and TCS WOWSound.
