Z scale, introduced by Marklin in 1972, is the smallest mass-produced model railroad scale at 1:220 with 6.5mm gauge track. The scale enables modelers to build complete layouts in spaces as small as a briefcase. Despite the tiny size, modern Z scale models feature impressive detail and reliable operation. The scale is particularly popular in Japan and Europe.
