A consist is two or more locomotives coupled together and operated as one unit, modeling prototype practice where heavy trains require multiple engines. DCC supports several consisting methods: basic consisting (all locos on same address), advanced consisting (CVs 19-20), and command station consisting (virtual consists managed by the system).
