WiFi Throttles with JMRI
Control your trains from a smartphone or tablet by connecting to JMRI's WiThrottle server.
Setting Up the Server
- Open JMRI (DecoderPro or PanelPro)
- Go to Actions → Start WiThrottle Server
- Note the IP address and port displayed
- Keep JMRI running on your computer
Connecting Your Device
iPhone/iPad (Engine Driver alternative)
- Download "WiThrottle" from App Store
- Open the app
- Enter JMRI's IP address and port
- Connect to the server
Android
- Download "Engine Driver" from Play Store
- Enter server address or use auto-discovery
- Select a throttle
- Choose a locomotive from the roster
Using the Throttle
- **Speed Slider:** Control locomotive speed
- **Direction:** Tap to reverse
- **Functions:** Access lights, sounds, bells
- **Emergency Stop:** Large stop button
Multiple Throttles
- Multiple people can connect simultaneously
- Each throttle controls different locomotives
- Perfect for operating sessions
- Host can still use computer throttle
Tips for Smooth Operation
- Use a dedicated WiFi network for best performance
- Keep the JMRI computer on reliable network connection
- Create roster entries for easy locomotive selection
- Configure functions in the roster for easy access on throttles
